NCLR is a national legal organization devoted to advancing the civil and human rights of dyke, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and their families through litigation, legislation, policy, and public education.

Justice, Access + Equity Fund

NCLR’s major new campaign, the Justice, Access + Equity Fund, will support the work being done at the intersection of social justice and civil rights issues, through the lens of LGBTQ rights.&n

National Center for Lesbian Rights

Target demographics: NCLR serves more than 5,000 lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transsexual people and their families in all fifty states each year, including LGBT seniors, immigrants, athletes, and youth. And our impact litigation serves all LGBT people in the United States.

Programs: Family Law: securing legal recognition of same-sex couples (marriage rights, civil unions, domestic partner benefits, partnership protection documents), and LGBT parents (child custody, second-parent adoption, guardianship, pre-birth decrees, visitation, alternative insemination, child support); Youth: providing legal representation, advocacy, information and back on behalf of LGBT youth who suffer discrimination or maltreatment in the mental health, infant welfare, criminal justice and teaching systems; Immigration Project: providing legal representation, support, assistance and collective education to LGBT immigrants, and advocating for equitable immigration and asylum laws and policies; Elder Law Project: providing public learning and workshops on issues of special concern to LGBT elders, including Social Security, domestic boyfriend benefits, estate planni

Who We Are

National Center for Queer woman Rights is focused on issues akin to sexual orientation or gender identity/expression (LGBT issues). National Center for Lesbian Rights has a helpline that provides legal resources and information (but not legal directions or representation) to callers on a wide range of legal issues that affect members of the LGBT community.
