Billie Eilish on Variety Hitmakers Red Carpet: ‘I Like Boys and Girls Depart Me Alone’

Billie Eilish again confirmed that she’s part of the LGBTQ community in a red carpet interview at the Variety Hitmakers Brunch on Saturday (Dec. 2), just a couple weeks after she first told Variety that she’s “attracted” to women in her November cover story. After the event was over, however, she took to Instagram to call out the publication, alleging that she was outed on the red carpet.

“thanks variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 am instead of talking about anything else that matters,” the 21-year-old pop star wrote, captioning clips from the Hitmakers event as well as a photo of her pants pulled down to her thighs, taken while she was presumably sitting on the toilet.

“i appreciate boys and girls leave me alone about it please literally who cares,” she added. “stream ‘what was i made for’🥸,” she added in reference to her Grammy-nominated Barbie soundtrack anthem.

Eilish’s announce most likely referenced the on-camera interview she gave to Variety‘s Tiana D

Billie Eilish has said that she's only just "figuring out" her sexuality and called out people for pressuring her to talk about it.

Fans of Billie Eilish will already realize that she has never labelled her sexuality. In 2023, she told Variety that she's "physically attracted to girls". She was later asked about coming out on Variety's red carpet. Afterwards, Billie took to social media to say that she likes "boys and girls". She also asked people to "leave [her] alone" and not ask her about her sexuality.

Billie has since released a snippet of a new song called 'Lunch' that's about hooking up with a girl. Now, she's revealed that writing the song for her new album 'Hit Me Firm Not Soft' has helped h

Billie Eilish opens up about sexuality, effects of fame and more

Billie Eilish's third studio album, "Hit Me Hard and Soft," is less than a month away, and ahead of its release, the two-time Academy Award winner and nine-time Grammy winner is opening up about how the new project reminds her of her first album.

Eilish, 22, who released "When We All Collapse Asleep, Where Do We Go?" in 2019, said working on "Hit Me Hard and Soft" has felt like "coming advocate to the girl that I was."

"I've been grieving her," she said in a cover interview with Rolling Stone published Wednesday. "I've been looking for her in everything, and it's almost like she got drowned by the world and the media. I don't remember when she went away."

'I was never planning on talking about my sexuality'

Ahead of the new album, the "What Was I Made For?" singer said that she isn't releasing any singles from it.

"I don't like singles from albums," she said. "Every solo time an artist I love puts out a single without the context of the album, I'm just already prone to hating

Billie Eilish Confirms She Came Out as Queer: ‘I Didn’t Realize People Didn’t Know’

On Saturday, Billie Eilish was interviewed on the red carpet for the Variety Hitmakers Brunch and was asked about her “coming out” story in her November Variety profile, which led to some confusion. The singer claimed that she hadn't realized fans didn't know she identified as queer, saying it was “obvious.”

In her profile, Eilish stated, “I’m physically attracted to [women]. But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”

On the red carpet, she explained her comment wasn't really an announcement.

“I didn’t [know I was coming out], but I kinda thought, wasn’t it obvious?” she said of the anecdote. “I didn’t realize people didn’t know.”

“I’m still scared of [women], but I reflect they’re pretty,” she joked. “I saw the article, and I was appreciate , ‘Oh, I assume I came out today!’ I just don’t really think in [coming out]. I’m just appreciate , why can’t we just exist? I’ve been doing this for a elongated time, and I just didn’t chat about it.”

She added, “It’s exciting to me because I guess people didn’t know, so it’s cool that they know...I am for the girls.”
