In the movies, let’s speak, there’s this whole idea of what buying a dwelling is like, particularly an old property. It always culminates with that sticky-sweet moment where the couple turns the key, walks in for the first time, and takes stock of their surroundings. They breath deep. The gas is musty, but charming. It’s fine air. It’s their air, and they know it. They are fresh-faced and full of desire. They quickly begin to do things, like sweep and pull white sheets off of ancient oil paintings and pieces of furniture left behind. They get in a cutesy flirty-fun-fight while painting their first room together, splattering each other with reckless abandon, oblivious with waste or, evidently, their flooring. They hang curtains. Despite our best endeavors to get plenty of different inspections and estimates before closing on the house, we signed on the dotted line with a few virtual unknowns, the largest among them being the plumbing. The super nice thing about these recaps is that there’s no news to frantically keep up on. Except for news that happens in the comments. It seems a fair number of you are building an elaborate conspiracy theory in which this is Lady and The Tramp human AU fanfic. I don’t know how I’ll ever recover from typing that sentence.
I’ll append a disclaimer here that if I don’t point out a specific typo or error in a quoted passage, it’s not in the actual text. It’s just my butterfingers and I’ve overlooked it in the spellcheck.

HGTV’s Married to Real Estate Cancelled After Four Seasons — Read Co-Hosts’ Statement
After four seasons, HGTV has cancelled Married to Actual Estate, the home renovation series hosted by Egypt Sherrod and her husband Mike Jackson.
Sherrod shared the cancellation news via Instagram Tuesday. “Mike and I just landed back in the States after an unforgettable family trip through the Mediterranean, and we’re met with unexpected news: HGTV has decided not to move forward with Married to Real Estate,” read the couple’s mutual statement. “While the chain of events leading up to this is disheartening, we are deeply grateful. Grateful for four unbelievable seasons. Grateful for our amazing crew and supportive fans. Grateful that our businesses continue to thrive. And most of all-grateful that we are still very much married to real estate (and to each other).
“There’s more to say, and we’ll share soon. But for now, know this: not all setbacks are what they seem. Some blessings show up in disguise. We’ve been here before. We’ll keep counting those blessings-and keep it moving. Stay tuned.”
