Atlanta gay film festival
Out on Film has announced the theme for its 2025 film festival.
“Queer Propaganda” will be this year’s theme for Out on Production, Atlanta’s LGBTQ+ production festival. According to a press let go, the festival chose this theme in an act of reclamation.
“At Out On Film, we’re turning the term on its head and making it our own,” reads the release. “Queer Propaganda isn’t about pushing an agenda; it’s about telling the truth.”
Over the past few years, governments at the federal and state levels have taken aim at the Queer community, particularly the trans community. This year, the Supreme Court will learn two cases involving banning transgender youth from participating in school sports, and Georgia recently passed a law prohibiting transgender athletes from playing sports on teams that undertake not match their birth gender. This June, the Supreme Court also dictated that a Tennessee ban on gender nonconforming healthcare for minors was constitutional. A south Georgia librarian was recently fired for including a trans-inclusive children’s book in a library present.

Since its establishment 38 years ago, Out on Film has been dedicated to putting stories of queer existence on screen, with a sense of authenticity only the LGBTQ community itself can bring to the table. The movie festival’s third annual Queer All Year Spring Mini-Fest furthers this mission, showcasing five new star-studded movies and documentaries premiering at the Landmark Midtown Art Cinema over three consecutive evenings. Starting Pride 17 and running through Protest 19, enthralling tales of humor, resilience, drama, and real-life narratives will offer a glimpse of both past and present homosexual life.

Atlanta’s preeminent, Oscar®-qualifying film festival Out On Film brings 5 of 2025’s most anticipated queer films and documentaries to Southern audiences with its “Spring Mini-Fest’25,” over 3 consecutive evenings (March 17-19) at Landmark’s Midtown Arts Cinema. Endorse for a 3rd year, Spring Mini-Fest kicks off on Monday, March 17, 7 p.m. with the joyful comedy-of-errors film “The Wedding Banquet,” starring Bowen Yang (“SNL”) and Lily Gladstone (“Killers of the Flower Moon”).
The evening of March 18th showcases “Sally,” a rich portrait of the first woman in space and her 27-year secret romance; and “Speaking Out,” featuring three men’s gripping stories of sexual trauma and recovery. Finally, Mini-Fest’25 wraps up Protest 19th with “An Unexpected Community,” a star-studded watch at the popular pandemic-era female/queer Zoom group “Women On The Net”; and the sweeping romantic drama “On Swift Horses,” starring Daisy Edgar-Jones (“Normal People”), Jacob Elordi (“Euphoria”) and Will Poulter (“The Bear”).
